Brick Mansions

Arranging & Orchestration, Film

An undercover cop tries to take down a ruthless crime lord with access to a neutron bomb in the ghetto known as Brick Mansions.

In a dystopian Detroit, abandoned brick mansions left from better times now house only the most dangerous criminals. Unable to control the crime, the police constructed a colossal containment wall around this area to protect the rest of the city.

For undercover cop Damien Collier (Paul Walker) every day is a battle against corruption. For Lino (David Belle), every day is a fight to live an honest life. Their paths never should have crossed, but when drug kingpin, Tremaine (RZA) kidnaps Lino's girlfriend, Damien reluctantly accepts the help of the fearless ex-convict, and together they must stop a sinister plot to devastate the entire city.

With stylized action featuring thrilling Parkour stunts (David Belle is the co-founder of the physical training discipline), Brick Mansions puts an entertaining twist on the action genre.

Brick Mansions is a franco-américan action movie directed by Camille Delamarre. Released in April 2014, it is a remake of the 2004 french film, Banlieue 13 by Pierre Morel and written by Luc Besson & Bibi Naceri

About the Music

Marc Bell and Alexandre Azaria composed the music for the film. Tim Rideout was called upon by Marc to do the orchestration for his tracks.

Marc had produced these incredible beat-oriented, action-packed tracks. But he had also written in orchestral elements - melodies, counterpoint, chordal structures, syncopated strings, big brass.

"My job as orchestrator was to find the space for the orchestral voices. The ultimate goal was to bring clarity to Marc's orchestral vision, which was very clear for the beginning: it had to kick ass and be epic.
